Bully Birthday to You

Today is an important Fake Holiday: the 151st birthday of the great Theodore Roosevelt.

ABOVE: That's right, the man killed an elephant.
Probably lots of them, and not necessarily
with a gun. You have a problem with that?

TR was maybe not our greatest president, but he was hands down the coolest. Let's review:

  • The first sitting president to win a Nobel Peace Prize, and arguably the only one to deserve it (sorry, Wilson and Obama).
  • The only president to be awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor.
  • The only person ever to have both of the above awards.
  • The only president ever to stab a mountain lion.
  • He was a cowboy.
  • He was a cop.
  • He was a war hero.
  • He was an award-winning historian.
  • He was an award-winning nature writer.
  • He was an explorer.
  • He was a hardass.
  • He was a philosopher of hardassness.

So long, Pisanos (Friday WTF)

I'm sorry to bring you sad news: the great Captain Lou Albano has died at the age of 76.

If you weren't a fan of pro wrestling in the 80s, you might know him as Cyndi Lauper's Dad or the short-lived face of Super Mario on Saturday morning TV.

This Friday WTF goes out to the multi-talented, multi-rubber-banded Capt. Lou:

The good, the bad, and the ridiculous (Friday WTF)

After going with a great fight scene two weeks ago, and a magnificently terrible one last week, I thought this Friday WTF should be, well, the most WTF-tacular fight scene of all time. First there was Frasier vs. Ali, then there was Optimus Prime vs. Megatron, and now...

Van Damme vs. Raul Julia

Yes, that Raul Julia. The guy from Romero capped off his career by playing a hoverboot-wearing third world dictator from a video game and getting his ass kicked by Van Damme.

And now for something completely different

Today is an important Fake Holiday. It was 40 years ago today that Monty Python's Flying Circus first aired on the BBC. To honor that landmark in history, we present you with the following.

He's a lover, not a fighter (Friday WTF)

After the classic fight scene of last week's Friday WTF, I thought this week we could go for the other extreme:
