What goes up must come down... onto a giant turtle's head (Friday WTF)
As a lover of science, I have to tip my hat to Mr. Glenn Elert and his students at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, NY. After much careful research, Mr. Elert's physics class has published a fascinating new paper, entitled:
After testing seven different Mario games from 5 different game platforms, they were able to determine that the force of gravity in Mario's world is now barely half of what it used to be, but it is still roughly 5 times stronger than Earth's gravity.
In short, the Mushroom Kingdom must be a REALLY big place, but it was a lot bigger in 1985. That, presumably, is Bowser's fault.
To commemorate this groundbreaking discovery, I offer the following Friday WTF video:
Even when I was 10, that just made me feel sorry for Captain Lou.
PS - Mr. Elert's class have explored other interesting questions, such as:

- How fast can a young Clark Kent run? (Answer: 296 mph)
- How much force can an adult Clark Kent exert? (Answer: at least 3,766,000 N)
- What is the compression strength of a human head in Sin City? (Answer: not strong enough)
